Szymon Usydus joins Wisła Kraków Football Academy as head youth scout
Szymon Usydus began his football scouting journey in August 2020, co-creating the database for the Football Manager game series. He remains an Assistant Researcher on the team, responsible for mapping the player and staff profiles of Wisła Kraków and Garbarnia Kraków.
He gained experience in club football in February 2021, serving as a scout for the Garbarnia Kraków first team. He was responsible for, among other things, scouting the Wisła Kraków U19 team, from which Wiktor Szywacz, Kacper Duda, and Patryk Warczak were loaned to Garbarnia at the time. These recommended players formed the backbone of the team, which competed in the playoffs for promotion to the First League in the 2021/22 season.
From June 2022, he worked for over 3.5 years as the chief scout and analyst at KS Kabel Kraków. At the club, he was responsible for recruiting players of all age groups, from children's football to the senior team. He conducted scouting in Kraków and the surrounding area, as well as tactical and statistical analysis (both team and individual), supporting the work of the first team staff. During this period, the KS Kabel Kraków senior team, from a newcomer in the District League, rose to the top of the league and is well on its way to promotion to the 5th League. Furthermore, his scouting activities have made a significant contribution to the development of the club's youth teams, including the junior team, which, under his leadership, was promoted from the lowest levels of the district leagues to the 1st Provincial League.
He furthered his experience during an internship in the scouting department of the Jagiellonia Białystok first team, where he worked as a video scout. He completed the PZPN Scout B course, focused on youth scouting, and regularly participates in specialized industry training.
He holds a PhD in technical sciences and has authored scientific articles on the operation of football stadiums. His doctoral dissertation, "The Importance of Football Stadiums and the Composition of Their Surroundings in Central European Agglomerations," was defended at the Faculty of Architecture, Krakow University of Technology, in June 2025.
We wish you good luck!
