Stanek: I am positive about the new season
The White Star's second team comfortably defeated Górnik II Zabrze 6-1 in a home friendly on Saturday. Young striker Mateusz Stanek was exceptionally effective in the match, finding the back of the net three times in the first half. The player assessed his performance in the match, commented on the team's overall performance, and also mentioned his goals for the future.
Wisła Kraków's reserve team has already played two important preseason games before the start of the third-division season. In the first, they were forced to surrender to Rekord Bielsko-Biała, while in the second, they spread their wings and crushed Górnik Zabrze's reserves. Mateusz Stanek played a significant role in this victory, demonstrating excellent form in that match.
"I think it was a good performance on my part, and my form was also good. I'm still training to best prepare for the league. Of course, I'm seeing some progress and I feel like this work is paying off, but I can't say I'm in my best form yet."
The player also mentioned the impressive three goals and a hat-trick in the match against Górnik.
"Of course, we're happy with the three goals, but I admit we could have had even more. We created a lot of good chances in the first half. It's a shame we weren't able to capitalize on all of them."
The friendly match against Górnik was much better for the White Star players than the first friendly match against Rekord. Mateusz Stanek expressed his opinion on his team's performance against the Śląsk team.
"We've already had another week of training, and we prepared longer for the friendly against Górnik than for the match against Rekord, which certainly contributed to the better result. We're constantly building the team, so I'm confident that we'll perform better and better in each match."
The start of the Betclic III League is fast approaching. The Kraków team will host KS Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski on the first Saturday of August. The young striker highlighted areas that still require refinement in training to ensure the White Star team reaches peak performance.
"We definitely need more teamwork on the pitch. We've had some significant changes in our squad, with many new faces joining us, which has completely transformed the team compared to last season. However, I believe that any shortcomings are only a matter of time, as we're making progress in this area week by week."
Mateusz Stanek and the team will soon be inaugurating the White Star's third-division campaign. What is the young footballer's attitude toward this sporting challenge?
"I'm optimistic about the new season. However, I believe it will be much more demanding in every respect than the previous one, played in the fourth league. I know we'll give it our all to achieve further victories and fight for the highest goals."
