Steel shattered: #STWWIS 1:5
It was a true shooting festival in Stalowa Wola for the White Star. Wisła Kraków defeated local rivals Stal by a 5-1 scoreline in the 16th round of the Betclic 1 League.
The opening minutes were fairly even, with Wisła slightly ahead, receiving a free kick in the second minute after a handball. However, the ball went wide. Moments later, Zwoliński attempted a shot, but his shot was off target.
Only after 10 minutes did Stal's players become more aggressive, with Tavares attempting a shot. However, the ball landed in Letkiewicz's hands. These attempts were to no avail for the hosts, as Angel Baena made it 1-0 for Wisła in the 16th minute, lobbing the ball over the Stalowa Wola goalkeeper.
One hundred and eighty seconds later, things got dangerous in the White Star penalty area, with the ball bouncing off Wisła and Stal players in turn. Fortunately, the threat was averted. The Podkarpacie team got their way in the 22nd minute, converting a set piece and slotting the ball into the net after a shot by Łukasz Furtak.
The final phase of the first half was a tense affair. A frantic Wisła Kraków increasingly found themselves near the opposing goal, but they were unable to finish, even from close range. Stalówka, on the other hand, tried to capitalize on the White Star's inaccuracies, also attempting counterattacks.
The 39th minute brought Wisła's second goal, with Mariusz Kutwa getting on the scoresheet. That wasn't the end of the scoring in the first half. Former Stal player Olivier Sukiennicki added the third.
Documenting the advantage
The R22 players started the second half with two changes. Kacper Duda and Jesus Alfaro came on to replace Olivier Sukiennicki and Tamas Kiss.
The opening moments of the second half were dominated by the home side's attacks. There was a lot of fighting and fouls, which forced the referee to reach for the cards. Despite Stal's efforts, Wisła scored their fourth goal of the match in the 56th minute. Jesus Alfaro capitalized on a counterattack.
The Krakow team pushed for more goals, but their finishing touches were lacking. The team from Podkarpacie attempted to break through the R22 team's defense, but the players led by Mariusz Jop were unable to do so.
In the 84th minute, Łukasz Zwoliński scored to make it 5-1, finding his feet in the opponent's penalty area. However, no further goals were scored, and the Kraków team deservedly returned to Wawel with three points.
