Sparring starts: #WISTSP 1:2
Wisła will play its first friendly match in 2025.
Wisła Kraków played their first friendly match of 2025. The Kraków team hosted Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała in Myślenice, winning the match 2-1.
Podbeskidzie were the more active players in the opening minutes, and they were the first to threaten Letkiewicz. However, the shot initially stopped Uryga, and the subsequent rebound sailed over the bar. Wisła responded by trying to surprise their opponent, but the ball ended up in the goalkeeper's hands.
In the 19th minute, the visitors had a chance after a free kick, but Letkiewicz once again won the ball. Seconds later, Kraków took the lead, with Łukasz Zwoliński adding his name to the scoresheet. The striker clipped the ball into the net, having previously been headed into the net by Enis Fazlagić.
The visitors didn't have to wait long for a response, as Lucjan Klisiewicz equalized in the 23rd minute. That wasn't the end of the scoring for the Bielsko-Biała team, as the same player slotted the ball into the top corner with a stunning scissor-style shot four minutes later. Neither team had any further scoring opportunities in the closing stages of the first half.
No goals after the break
At halftime, coach Mariusz Jop made changes, and ten White Star players were brought onto the pitch, which resulted in more action in front of the Podbeskidzie goal. What was lacking was finishing. Kiakos and Rodado had their chances, but none were effective enough to equalize.
In the 58th minute, Rodado fired the ball into the net, but the referee disallowed the goal, leaving Kraków to chase the equalizer. One hundred and twenty seconds later, Kuziemka came close, but this time the Podbeskidzie goalkeeper made a brilliant save. The White Star's attacks continued. Kiakos met Starzyński's cross, but once again, in the 67th minute, the Greek defender made a mistake.
Although the tempo of the match didn't slow down in the final stages, play shifted somewhat to the midfield. Kraków remained in control, and the visitors failed to threaten their defense from the right-hand 22. Mariusz Jop's men had chances to equalize for the remainder of the match, but neither from the open play nor from a free kick could they beat the Bielsko-Biała goalkeeper.
