Świercz: I feel immense gratitude for being a Wiślak
Wisła Kraków Amp Futbol won another championship title. This season, they once again proved to be the best in Poland, securing the championship before the season officially ended. The tournament in Bielsko-Biała was also special for Przemysław Świercz, who officially retired from football after the final match.
Wisła Kraków Amp Futbol entered the final league tournament as leaders, but the Kraków team needed to put the finishing touches on their success. They had their chance to do so in the very first match, when the White Star faced Śląsk Wrocław. The match ended in a Polish victory, securing the championship title for the team from Wawel. "Indeed, the last matches against Śląsk were among the toughest. They're a strong team, but we want and can beat anyone. We wanted to seal the Polish Championship on Saturday and show who the best team is this season. There was definitely joy because we achieved what we worked hard for and what was our goal," began Przemysław Świercz.
After the victory over Śląsk Wrocław, it was clear that Wisła would be the best team this season. Despite this, the Kraków team played a few more matches, in which they performed very well. "I really liked our approach; despite the success, we gave it our all in the last two matches. We wanted to win them and show that the one match we lost against Legia this season was an 'accident at work,'" he noted.
The tournament in Bielsko-Biała was special for Przemysław Świercz. Before it began, we already knew he had decided to end his Amp Futbol career. "There were many emotions. You could say a whole range. From a feeling of fulfillment, joy, and gratitude for all this time. But also sadness, longing, and questions to myself whether it was really the right decision. But I focus on the joy of what I received and what I experienced. On the beautiful years spent on the pitch. The fantastic fans and the exceptional team. I feel immense gratitude for being a Wisła player," he said, adding: "The thought of retiring didn't come suddenly. It had been forming in my heart and mind for some time. But I always gave myself time to make a decision. I entered this year's season with the conviction that it would be my last."
We also asked if there was any event in his Amp Futbol adventure that particularly stuck with him. "There are many beautiful moments. I won't single out one because it's very difficult. It was truly a wonderful time. I wish everyone a chapter like that in their life."
During Przemysław Świercz's Amp Futbol career, he saw many players grow up alongside him, players who today are the driving force behind teams like Wisła Kraków and the Polish national team. "As the famous candy commercial goes, 'Today I'm a grandfather myself...' Poland and Wisła have many talented and hard-working young players. Their presence makes me finish my playing days with a sense of peace and fulfillment. And let Krystian Kapłon be an example that with hard work, determination, and patience, you can achieve your goals. You can build yourself and your team. I'm full of admiration for Krystian and the entire Wisła team, and I feel that next year they'll be an even better team."
Przemysław Świercz also spoke about the support he received from Wisła Kraków players throughout his career. "I supported the guys, and they supported me. It always works both ways. We're a team and we've always been there for each other. Through thick and thin. That's what I love about this team: despite the obstacles, we were TOGETHER."
We already know that Krystian Kapłon will take over the captaincy at Wisła Kraków from Przemysław Świercz. "Now is the time for a new captain, and let him lead the team in his own way. Because each of us is different and will lead this team according to his own strengths. Wisła has many leaders, and depending on the time, situation, and place, this leadership becomes more active. The most important thing to remember is that only by being TOGETHER can we be strong," he emphasized.
Finally, we asked about his plans for the near future and what we could wish Przemek. "My plans? Just a little more patience, and it should be clear what's next. And what can we wish me? Definitely health, because without it, it's hard to act. And... courage," he concluded.
