Sobolewski: We are working on automatisms
Wisła Kraków concluded their international break with a friendly against Górnik Zabrze. The friendly ended in a 1-0 victory for the Ekstraklasa team. The White Star's coach, Radosław Sobolewski, summed up the match.
"We finished our training micro-cycle with a friendly against an Ekstraklasa team. We played Górnik Zabrze away, and I think our play looked promising. We created a few chances, which is good because we're getting things done. We're working on automaticity. After the substitutions, the pace slowed down a bit. Górnik took the initiative, which resulted in a goal conceded. Overall, however, I have to say that the friendly – in terms of getting things done – was successful," began the R22 coach.
Angel Rodado was injured during training and the White Star will have to manage without him.
"We'll have a problem with Angel here until the end of the year, because we probably won't be able to get him back on his feet. It was an unlucky, very unfortunate injury. A mechanical injury in training. Szymon Sobczak, on the other hand, pushed very hard and trained hard. I hope this will be his time. But that's how brutal it is in football, that one player's misfortune becomes another's opportunity. Young players from the second team can also get a chance. After consulting with coach Mariusz Jop, we decided that Dominik Sarga deserves a chance here, and in this match he and the team did a good job," he said.
David Junca, meanwhile, suffered an injury in the match against Lechia Gdańsk. What's the status of his return to the pitch?
"I don't know if we'll be able to get him back on his feet for the next match. We'll do everything we can to help him this round, but in this case, it's not yet known if that will be possible," he continued.
In the friendly match, three players played in central midfield: Igor Sapała, Marc Carbo, and Kacper Duda. Where did this idea come from?
"With Igor Sapała's improving form, I'm trying various solutions to fit all three players into the lineup. One of them is to move our youngster, Kacper Duda, a bit further up the pitch. Kacper hasn't played in that position for a while, but it was clear in the match against Górnik that he feels comfortable between the lines and can move the ball freely there. That was also one of the goals of this friendly, to test this formation. The work of the number six and eight in the transition, i.e., how Igor and Marc played in the middle, looked quite good," he analyzed.
