Sobolewski: We also have other players who can score goals
Wisła will kick off their 16th round of the Fortuna 1 Liga on Saturday afternoon. Before the first whistle in the #WISKAT match, coach Radosław Sobolewski answered questions from journalists during the pre-match press conference.
In the absence of Angel Rodado, there will be a place for Szymon Sobczak at the forefront.
"Here's the thing – Angel is out, but we have other players. Szymon Sobczak is ready; he's been waiting a long time for his chance, and he'll get it in this match. He'll be in the starting lineup from the start, and I'm counting on his scoring ability. We also have other players who can score goals – Goku and Miki Villar, for example, so I hope that translates to the other players as well," the coach began.
Dominik Sarga has been called up to the first team. How does he fare in training alongside his older teammates?
"The job is looking really good. This boy didn't end up here by accident. We've consulted everything with the second team's manager, coach Mariusz Jop. Sarga definitely deserves a chance. That's how it is in football – one man's misfortune can be another's incredible good fortune. This could be a big step in this young player's career. Obviously, he has to bear the burden and deal with certain things. In training, it's really clear that he knows how to find himself in situations in the penalty area and can finish them off. I'm really curious to see how it will turn out," he added.
David Junka will also be missing on the left side due to injury. Who will replace him?
"We've been managing without David at left back for a while now, so there's someone to replace him. Whether it's Dawid Szot or Eneko Sat, Rustegui. "Krzyżu" also played in that position, so I think we'll manage, considering David's absence. As for "Krzyżu," the fatigue is evident after the World Cup. Not only in terms of playing, but also in terms of traveling and returning to Poland. He was given two days off after his return, and the following days were spent in individual training. Today, he had his first training session with the team," he continued.
In the friendly match against Górnik Zabrze, the coach found space in the midfield for three players: Igor Sapała, Kacper Duda and Marc Carbó.
"This plan was based on something. We already had the match against GKS Katowice in mind, and a mobile player would definitely have to play in the number ten position. 'Dudi' meets that requirement. We wanted to see how it would compare to the Ekstraklasa team, and it looked really decent for a change. You could say I'm considering that this threesome will play against GKS Katowice," he explained.
Attention was also paid to their closest rival, GKS Katowice. What are their strengths?
"I'll mention the most important things. We're definitely in for a tough match. GKS Katowice plays very hard, and in this aspect we have to really compete at a high level. Another thing is that this is a team that likes to defend deep in a 1-5-4-1 formation. They're incredibly dangerous in the transition phase. They come out with really aggressive, quick attacks, so we have to be vigilant here too to prevent the opponent from gaining momentum. And lastly, the set piece in attack. They have four impressive players, you could even say five, all 195 cm plus, so we have to take this into account here too and protect ourselves as best we can against that," concluded coach Radosław Sobolewski.
