Rudé before #CHRWIS: For us, the most important thing is the next match
The league is back, so it's time for the pre-match press conference #CHRWIS. Coach Albert Rudé met with the media on Thursday.
Current medical report:
- Kamil Broda - feels some discomfort and is not one hundred percent ready yet;
- Ángel Rodado - suffered a shoulder injury during a recent training session and has undergone rehabilitation. A decision regarding possible surgery will be made in the coming days;
- David Junca - trains individually on the pitch;
- Jakub Stępak - trains individually in the gym;
- Patryk Gogół - implemented in individual running training;
- Bartosz Talar - is rehabilitating after surgery;
- Ángel Baena - knee injury after being hit by an opponent in sparring, trains individually;
- Anton Chiczkan - is training with the team, but due to private matters related to the formalities entitling him to permanent residence in Poland, he cannot be included in the squad.
Ángel Rodado is sidelined after sustaining an injury during Wednesday's training session. How has the team reacted? "It's true, Ángel sustained an injury in the last training session. When you lose a player, you lose certain things in the team. If Basha, for example, gets injured, you lose experience. Sapała is injured, you lose the quality of his passing, Villar is injured, you lose one-on-one play. As you know, Ángel and I lose scoring opportunities, chances in front of the opponent's goal. The best response from a coach to something like this is teamwork. That's the best solution for injuries in a team!" he began.
During the international break, the players were given three days off. When asked if this treatment would help clear their heads, the coach replied: "Definitely! We pushed the players physically to their limits. We had to be very well prepared before a busy month. Rest was also crucial, so they could mentally recover with their families. Now there will be no time for rest for the next month, and they need to be ready for what's to come."
Karol Dziedzic and Billel Omrani made their unofficial debuts in a friendly against Stal Rzeszów, but they still have to wait for league appearances. "We're constantly working with them, and they're making progress week by week, but they still have a lot of room for improvement. They're not 100 percent ready yet," he said. Second-team players Wiktor Szywacz, Marc Grau, and Jakub Niewiadomski also played in the friendly. So, can we expect them to be included in the first-team squad? "It's true that Marc Grau, Szywacz, and Niewiadomski spent the entire season with us, ending with the friendly. We've had various players with us recently, for example, Tokarczyk during pre-season. They're training with us so we can assess their potential against the first-team squad. It's crucial for the club to make the best decisions possible while simultaneously filling gaps in the squad with players from the second team. However, none of them will be included in the squad for the upcoming match," he said.
"We have to treat every single match like a final. Every three points will bring us closer to our main goal. We have more away games than home games. Our mindset must be very clear, we must be very well prepared for away games. At the moment, there is no word on Piast. For us, the most important match is the next one," he emphasized.
The White Star is now focused on the match in Głogów, and it's the most important one at the moment. "There's one easy answer: if we have doubts about our opponent's quality, just look at their last match against GKS Tychy. They played brilliantly and won. What's more, we lost our last friendly against Stal. We got a punch in the face, which I like. Because we have to understand that every match in this league will be very difficult and close. It doesn't matter whether the opponent is at the top or bottom of the table," he continued.
Vullnet Basha, Igor Sapała, and Miki Villar were missing from the injury list. So, can we expect them to be ready for the match against Chrobry? "Basha, Villar, and Sapała are in the final stages of their returns from injuries, so they could be included in the squad. Kacper Duda and Jakub Krzyżanowski are 100 percent ready," he added.
Journalists inquired whether Michał Żyro, who played as a number ten in the friendly, would replace Ángel Rodado. "First of all, I want to emphasize that the best replacement for an injured player is the team's work. An injury to a player in such an important position as a striker requires a step forward. Of course, this will be an opportunity for some players to shine and define our next goals. Injuries are normal at the highest level, and we must be prepared to deal with them," concluded coach Albert Rudé.
