Reserves: Victory in Gorlice
The White Star reserve team traveled to Gorlice on Saturday to face local side Glinik in the 22nd round of the JAKO IV League. Wisła emerged victorious, defeating the hosts 2-0 thanks to a goal from Marc Grau and a penalty from Jakub Niewiadomski.
From the opening moments, both teams sought to take full control and impose their own style of play. The match began with a close contest, with both teams attempting to build coherent attacks. The Kraków team boldly pushed into the opposing penalty area, and in the seventh minute, Wiktor Szywacz attempted to open the home goal with a left-footed shot, which was blocked by his opponent. Moments later, Glinik took the initiative – first with a shot saved by Arkadiusz Krzyżanowski and then a missed rebound. The teams continued their attacking attempts, and after one of them, Karol Sałamaj was fouled just outside the penalty area, earning the Glinik player a red card. The referee awarded a free kick, from which Michał Zimon hit the wall. The ball then rebounded off Jakub Niewiadomski and found Wiktor Szywacz, who forced the Gorlice goalkeeper into action. Wisła's pressure grew stronger with each passing minute, gaining control of their opponents' half and creating more chances. Marc Grau, Dominik Sarga, and Jakub Złoch all had chances to score, but the score remained unchanged at halftime.
Two goals and three points
The teams emerged in the second half motivated to seize the initiative and open the scoring. The Kraków side dominated this period, but the weakened hosts were also determined not to give up. However, the visitors were the ones who created the most scoring opportunities – moments after the start of the second half, Wiktor Szywacz shot wide from distance, then Karol Tokarczyk sent a free kick high over the bar, and with each passing minute, the chances grew. Marc Grau, Maciej Kuziemka, and Oliwier Micek had their chances, but still failed to produce a goal. The breakthrough came in the 78th minute, when Marc Grau, after receiving a cross from Maciej Kuziemka and some confusion in the penalty area, kept his cool and placed a perfect shot into the net. The Kraków team's display of efficiency didn't end there. A few moments before the end of regular time, the referee saw a foul on Piotr Ćwik, as a result of which he awarded a penalty kick, and Jakub Niewiadomski confidently converted the set piece.
