Rudé: The reaction after the break was very important

The White Star players will play their next league match on Tuesday. This time, they will face Resovia away. Coach Albert Rudé met with journalists before the match.

Current health situation of the team:

- Kamil Broda starts training with the team;
- Goku and Bartosz Talar are in rehabilitation;
- Jakub Stępak is in individual training, but his loads are increased.

Additionally, due to yellow cards, the team captain, Alan Uryga, will not play.

"The only thing you can do in such a short period is focus on recovery. And that's what we're focusing on right now," the coach began.

The team received a boost from the performances of Michał Żyro and David Junka, who livened up the Kraków team in Pruszków. "I agree that these players had a very positive impact on the team in the second half. I'm very pleased that the players who came off the bench have such an impact on the game. I'm happy that we're talking about these two players, because they had health problems during the preseason, they struggled with it, and now they're giving us so much. They had a key influence on the final result in the last match," he continued.

The match in Pruszków had two different – and polar – halves. The journalists briefly reviewed the match. "I think it was a lesson for both sides. We have to be honest in our assessment. The first lesson was about not making the same mistakes we did in the first half. The second was our comeback – we scored three goals, played very bravely. We didn't allow counterattacks, we played 75 meters from our goal. We had plenty of chances, and in the end, we got the three points. That reaction after halftime was very important. We have to take these two lessons into account and we have to keep improving," he explained. "I knew this question would come back to me at the next press conference, so I'm ready to answer it. Overall, the team played very well. We had the ball 80 percent of the time, created many chances, prevented counterattacks, and played very well away from our goal. If we look at this match from the perspective that we didn't make many mistakes in the first half, but the result was 2-0 to our opponents, it was a disaster. One answer to the question of why this happened is the mistakes we made. Where did they come from? Maybe it's because the team might have been cognitively fatigued. Our players play a lot of matches under pressure, with high expectations. The sheer volume of emotions means they can't always be 100 percent focused. And if you're not 100 percent focused in this league, the opponent will take advantage of that. To avoid such events happening again, we need to make two moves. The first is to pay attention to players' recovery. The second is to manage their minutes on the pitch. This is something we pay attention to to help the players as best as possible," he analyzed.

Alan Uryga, however, is sidelined due to a yellow card suspension. "In Alan's absence, we have three options. We have Igor Łasicki, Eneko Satrustegui, and Mariusz Kutwa. One of them will play in Alan's place," he replied cryptically.

The last match showed Resovia's aggressive side, as they fought fiercely for possession, playing very high up the pitch. What kind of match is the coach expecting? "I think that in the final part of the season, teams fighting to stay in the relegation zone are the most dangerous. They're trying to find solutions to change the dynamic of matches. We could face this in the next match. Our closest opponents used to play with a five-man defense, but now they're playing with four. This allows them to be more aggressive up front when it comes to pressing high, and they can be more vertical when it comes to playing with the ball. We expect a very, very difficult away match," he noted.

When asked what needs to be done to play with a zero at the back, the coach replied: "As you know, we play very offensively. Both with and without the ball. This gives us a lot of opportunities to score goals, and we usually do. However, there's a lot of room for improvement defensively, and it's not just about the defenders or the goalkeeper. For me, the first defender is the striker, and believe me, we really want to improve that. We're devoting a lot of time in training to getting better at this."

As usual, there were questions about individual players. This time, it was about Bartosz Jaroch, who is returning from a red card. "He's looking good in training. However, we still have one more training session before we leave for Rzeszów to assess who will be on the roster for the upcoming match," he replied.

Meanwhile, Billel Omrani and Jakub Krzyżanowski recently missed out on the starting lineup. Was this decision dictated by purely sporting considerations? "Krzyżanowski isn't on the injury list, but we tried to protect him from injury because he wasn't feeling completely comfortable. As for Omrani, with the return of Rodado, Alfaro, and Gogół, the competition has intensified and is very high," he concluded.
