Rudé: We have prepared a plan that I hope will work
The final away match of the regular season is fast approaching. On Saturday, May 18th, Wisła will play against GKS Katowice. Coach Albert Rudé also met with journalists before the match.
Medical report:
- Bartosz Jaroch has a damaged biceps muscle, he is undergoing rehabilitation;
- Bartosz Talar is undergoing rehabilitation.
Bartosz Jaroch has joined the injured Bartosz Talar. How long will the coach be sidelined? "In cases like these, it's difficult to predict how long he'll need to return. Everything will depend on how his body responds to the treatments he's currently undergoing," he said.
Given the suspensions in defence and Bartosz Jaroch's injury, is the coach's biggest problem with the defensive lineup? "It's true that we have a few important absences in defence. However, we also have players who are ready to fill those gaps," he noted.
Journalists were also curious if the coaching staff had discussed with their players the importance of caution on the pitch to avoid unnecessary yellow cards. "Generally speaking, in these types of matches, when you're playing such a tough opponent or in the playoffs, you have to play with eleven players. Of course, we discussed this with the team, and I can assure you, it wasn't a pleasant conversation," he replied.
What are the opponent's greatest strengths and how can we counter them? "Firstly, I want to say that we thoroughly analyzed our closest rival's matches and, based on those observations, we've prepared a plan that I hope will work. Most importantly, however, Katowice is a project. It's a long-term project, which is evident on the pitch. There's a coach who's been with the team since the 2019/2020 season. That's five seasons of work with the team, and there are many players who have been with the team for two, three, even four years. Therefore, we can clearly see that this team is on the right track. They know how to play, and their results this season are no surprise to me," he analyzed.
The R22 team is struggling with its winning streak. Where can fans draw hope for a positive end to the regular season? "It's true that we haven't won the league twice in a row. How do we assess this situation? We have the last two games of the regular season, so this is our last chance to do it. We don't need anything extra before this match. This match will be everything. We're playing against a very good team, a direct rival, and we're on the brink of victory. We need to win to get into the play-offs. All these elements are motivation for this match," he continued.
Goku started as the number ten against Lechia. Will he play there again this time, or will we see Szymon Sobczak on the pitch? "We have these two options, but also others for the starting eleven. To assess this situation, I'll explain what influences the selection of the starting lineup. Two criteria matter. First, the current form of the player. Second, what we need against the opponent. These are the factors that will determine the selection of the starting eleven," he added.
After the last match, the White Star players suggested they lacked concentration, while others felt they were overly motivated. How does the coach address this issue? "We analyzed the match very carefully. I think we had a very good thirty minutes. When we conceded the first goal, the opponent started playing very well, better than us, and it was difficult for us to get back into the game. In the second half, it was very difficult to play without two players. I don't think it was all due to a lack of concentration. Rather, it was because we didn't manage our advantages well in that match, when we were leading first 1-0 and then 2-1. Managing a match like this is all about the details. When you have two red cards and two penalties against the leaders, that's decisive," he said.
