Piotr Zagórowski returns to the Wisła Kraków Academy
Piotr Zagórowski is returning to the Wisła Kraków Football Academy after two years. The 20-year-old goalkeeper, who spent last season with third-division Garbarnia Kraków, will join the White Star's second team and will also serve as goalkeeping coach for the U-17 team. Zagórowski has signed a two-year contract with Wisła Kraków, with the option to extend it for another season.
Piotr Zagórowski played for Wisła Kraków U-19 from 2019 to 2021, having previously honed his goalkeeping skills in the younger years of the Academy. He made a total of 26 appearances for the U-19 team in the Central Junior League. He later moved to OKS Brzesko, and spent the last two years playing for Unia Tarnów and Garbarnia Kraków, respectively.
Last season he played 13 matches for Garbarnia, including 11 in the third league and two matches in the Fortuna Polish Cup.
Piotr Zagórowski has signed a two-year contract with the Wisła Academy, with the option to extend it for another season. The 20-year-old will also serve as goalkeeping coach for the U-17 team.
"I didn't expect this turn of events at all. I admit, I thought my only way back to Wisła would be as a fan at matches at Reymonta Street. Already during last season, I heard signs that there might be an opportunity to work with the Academy as a goalkeeping coach. However, the news that I would be combining my coaching role with playing for the second team came as a complete surprise," says Piotr Zagórowski.
A clearly defined goal for the future
The 20-year-old currently holds a UEFA C license, but he doesn't hide the fact that coaching is his future. He already has some experience working with young goalkeeping aspirants.
"Now I have to complete a year-long internship and would like to obtain further licenses. I plan to obtain my UEFA Goalkeeper B license and would like to pursue coaching. At Garbarnia last season, I already had the opportunity to work with goalkeepers aged from U-12 to U-15. In Bochnia, I also work with a group of aspiring goalkeepers aged 9-10," admits the new goalkeeper of Wisła Kraków's second team.
Zagórowski, playing for Unia Tarnów and Garbarnia, has experienced the realities of the third division. He has a clear goal for the upcoming season.
"I know what playing in the third division entails, although I'm still gaining the necessary experience. From the very beginning of preparations, I'll be giving my all in training and I'm convinced that we'll fight for the highest possible position in the table. A club like Wisła Kraków doesn't deserve to be fighting for relegation or playing in mid-table," assured the 20-year-old goalkeeper.
Piotr, welcome back to the Wisła family!
