PZU Amp Futbol Ekstraklasa: Wisła's full set of victories at the start of the season
The first tournament of the new PZU Amp Futbol Ekstraklasa season is behind us. The White Star played three matches in Poznań over the weekend, performing exceptionally well, winning each of them.
The first match of this tournament, and indeed of the entire 2025 season, was against a new team in the PZU Amp Futbol Ekstraklasa – Zawisza Bydgoszcz. It's worth noting that although they were newcomers, their ranks include players well-known on the Amp Futbol pitch. Despite this, the White Star was the clear favorite, a fact quickly confirmed. Matthew Dean was particularly effective in the match, scoring four goals. Przemysław Świercz and Kamil Grygiel added two goals each, and Jakub Kożuch and Krystian Kapłon also found the net once. Wisła defeated their opponents 10-0.
That same day, the Kraków team faced another, much tougher, matchup – against a team aspiring to be the best team in Poland, Śląsk Wrocław. Śląsk Wrocław had already demonstrated a wealth of talented players last season, and before the start of this year's campaign, they had strengthened their ranks with players such as Marcin Oleksy. The match was incredibly high-scoring, with both teams attempting to tip the scales in their favor, unleashing numerous spectacular moves. Wisła were the first to find the net, thanks to Przemysław Świercz, who scored his second goal of the season just starting. However, Wrocław was not indifferent to the action on the pitch, and Ilyass Sbiyaâ – one of the team's best players – equalized in the 23rd minute. However, the final say belonged to the White Star, who took the lead in the 41st minute with an own goal from a corner kick. She did not relinquish the lead until the end and could enjoy another set of points, won after a very difficult and demanding match.
On Sunday, Wisła Kraków faced their final match in Poznań, against Stal Rzeszów. Just like in the match against Zawisza, the team from Wawel Castle was seen as the favorite. The Kraków team repeatedly attempted to surprise their opponents with intriguing, well-thought-out moves, but Stal's defense proved unable to resist. Kamil Grygiel was the most effective player in the match, scoring three goals. Olaf Tokarski and Przemysław Świercz added two more, while Krystian Kapłon, Kamil Rosiek, and Matthew Dean each found the net for Stal. Wisła Kraków won their final match of the first tournament, just like they did in the first, 10-0.
The White Star finished the first tournament of the season with a complete set of victories, earning 9 points and a goal difference of 22:1. The next tournament of the PZU Amp Futbol Ekstraklasa season will take place on April 26-27 in Rzeszów.
