Runners-up of the Amp Futbol Champions League!
Wisła's Amp Futbol team – just like last year – finished second in the Champions League. In the final of the Spanish tournament, the White Star lost 3-2 to Sahinbey Belediyespor and returned to Wawel with silver medals.
The group matches confirmed the good form of our Amp Football players, who defeated: Sporting Amp Football 2-0, Flamencos Amputados Sur 4-2 and FC Dila Gori 3-0 as part of the walkover granted.
Before Wisła's final clash, they faced Portsmouth Amputee FC in the semifinals. The match was decided in the final minute by Jakub Kożuch's goal! The final started well for the Kraków team, who quickly took a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Krystian Kapłon and Kamil Grygiel. However, the final period changed the course of the match. First, the Turks scored a goal, and moments later, Bamgbopa Abayomi Alabi received a second yellow card and left the field. The White Star, therefore, had to cope with a man down...
After the break, Wisła defended valiantly, but Sahinbey Belediyespor finally equalized. The final minutes of the match were a rollercoaster. Wisła had their chance to score a third goal, but unfortunately, they were ineffective, and their opponents launched a quick counterattack and found the back of the net from the right-hand side. Moments later, the final whistle blew, and the Bosphorus side were able to celebrate their victory.
Our players' performance throughout the tournament, and especially in the final match, earned great praise from the entire amputee football community. We are also proud of our players!
