The League Returns: #WISWAR Preview

It's time to get back to league action! The first whistle will sound on September 13th at 8:30 PM for the clash between Wisła Kraków and Warta Poznań. Friday's match at Reymonta Stadium will be part of the 9th round of the Betclic 1 League.

After nearly two weeks away from domestic football, Wisła Kraków are back in the hunt for their coveted promotion. Due to European competition, the Kraków team has three outstanding matches on their books, one of which will be played in the middle of next week. Before that happens, however, coach Kazimierz Moskal's men will be looking to earn points against Warta Poznań in front of their home fans.

The White Star must aspire to the top of the table, making victory in Friday's match a must. Warta Poznań has the worst defensive record in the league and should be a good opponent to showcase their practiced strategies, especially in attack. The Kraków coach himself emphasized in the pre-match press conference that his team spent a significant amount of time during the international break improving their attacking finish. Therefore, the often-visible ineffectiveness in previous matches should be significantly improved.

The relegated Ekstraklasa side haven't had the best start to the current season. The Green and Whites are in second-to-last place, with just five points from eight matches so far. Piotr Klepczarek's team has been defeated five times by their opponents, and thanks to two draws and a win against Stal Stalowa Wola, they're defending their title as the league's "red light." However, Warta has something to fight for tomorrow, as a possible victory over Wisła could lift them out of the relegation zone. We can therefore expect a fierce competition on Friday evening and a healthy dose of the football excitement we've all already missed!

See you at R22!
