Return to the domestic scene: #WISPOL announcement
Wisła Kraków will kick off their 2024/25 Betclic 1st League season with a home clash against Polonia Warsaw. The match is scheduled for Sunday, July 28th at 2:30 PM at R22.
Given the postponed opening match against ŁKS, Wisła will begin their league campaign with the second round against Polonia Warszawa. Last season, the White Star's rivalry with the Black Shirts proved extremely successful, ending with three victories in all three matches. Kazimierz Moskal's men, temporarily putting aside the excitement of European competition, approach this clash with the clear goal of maintaining their successful streak and a strong start to the domestic competition.
Last season, Polonia fans weren't certain of their club's survival until the final round. Rafał Smalec's team didn't start this season well either, starting with a 1-0 home defeat to Znicz Pruszków. As part of their training session, the Warsaw team also faced Unia Skierniewice away, losing again 2-1. Given this situation, a trip to Krakow certainly doesn't promise to be an easy breakthrough.
The biggest problem for Wisła's coaching staff may be the numerous absences. In addition to the injured players, Marc Carbó is out for an unpaid red card, which, with Kacper Duda already absent, will be a significant weakening of the midfield. However, this opens the door for substitutes – not long ago, in a similar situation, Igor Sapała was called into the starting eleven, putting in a very solid performance. The youth players are also working hard for opportunities like those in training, giving our coach ample room to rotate.
Go Vistula!
