Summary of the Academy weekend: September 1-2
Another league weekend is behind us, with plenty of matches featuring young players from the Wisła Football Academy. Here's a brief summary of the results for the CLJ U-15, CLJ U-17, and CLJ U-19 teams.
U-15: Losing to Korona
Wisła Kraków U-15s hosted Industria Korona Kielce on Saturday. The Kraków team put in a strong performance, but ultimately their opponents proved more effective, winning 2-0.
From the first whistle, Wisła set the pace and controlled the match. In the first half, Kraków created several good chances, but the visiting goalkeeper showed excellent form. In the 15th minute, Kielce launched a counterattack and scored the first goal with a shot from outside the penalty area, opening the scoring. Wisła dominated the remainder of the period, but their control of the game and continued attacking attempts prevented them from equalizing.
The second half didn't change the complexion of the game. Wisła maintained possession and tried to threaten the opponent's goal. Marcin Berezka passed a cross from deep to Vladyslav Kovalski, who slotted the ball into the net, but the referee blew for offside. In the 60th minute, the Kraków team made a mistake in the middle of the pitch. The visiting striker intercepted the ball and scored from 45 meters out to tie the score.
"We feel a lot of sporting anger after a result that doesn't satisfy us. We had our good moments and should have turned them into goals. We spent most of the match in the opponent's half and were able to pose a real threat. We were prepared for the style Korona would present, we were able to break down their defensive lines and protect ourselves from dangerous counterattacks. Unfortunately, in two situations, the opponent gained the upper hand and took the three points. This is an important lesson for us. I'm sure we will be well prepared for such situations in the next match."

The Wisła Kraków U-17 team has already faced another challenging league opponent. This time, the young White Star players faced the Płock team, with whom they fought a fierce battle for the precious full set of points. The hosts proved very consistent in their efforts, beating the White Star goalkeeper five times, to which the visitors tried to respond decisively throughout the match. The Kraków team also created chances in front of the opponents' goal, striving to turn the tide of the match, but ultimately found the net only twice, thanks to shots from Bruno Skoczek and Milan Olej. U-19: Warta defeated!
The U-19 team hosted Warta Poznań on Saturday morning and once again showed excellent form, securing a perfect score. The match ended in a 2-0 victory for the home side, thanks to two goals from Radosław Wójcicki.
From the opening moments of the match, the Kraków team asserted their dominance over their opponents, pressing them hard and launching dangerous attacks. Coach Karol Nędza's men invaded the Poznań penalty area, attempting to break through the visitors' defense and find a way to their goal. There were plenty of opportunities to do so, but the opening goal wasn't immediately forthcoming. Hugo Woyna-Orlewicz had the best chance to give Wisła the lead in the first half, taking a penalty kick around the 20th minute, but he failed to beat the opposing goalkeeper. The visitors, on the other hand, continually disrupted Wisła's good runs, attempting to threaten their goal, but they managed only one scoring opportunity before halftime.
Two hits and three points
After the break, the Kraków team immediately began fighting for possession and the desired goal. The hosts consistently attacked their opponents and patiently executed their goals, finally allowing them to enjoy their lead. In the 61st minute, Radosław Wójcicki found the back of the net after a cross from the sidelines, giving his team their first goal. The young player's display of skill didn't end there. Exactly five minutes later, the same player fired a left-footed shot from outside the penalty area, scoring his second goal. The home side held their ground until the very end, maintaining control of the game, but the score remained unchanged. "Another win is certainly pleasing, as it has a positive impact on the atmosphere, which helps us work better, but we must remember that there are still areas of our game that need improvement."
"We are constantly focusing on developing the individual skills that a player playing in a given position must possess. Each match is a valuable lesson for us and provides us with material to analyze the progress made and the aspects that require more work in the coming week. Therefore, we are primarily focused on this development and achieving a positive result, but only by completing our tasks at a high level. We always approach matches with the will to win and the will to fight," said Karol Nędza, the U-19 team's coach, after the match.

Wisła II: The losing streak is broken. Victory in Tarnów
Coach Bartosz Bąk's side finally ended their winless streak. The Kraków team defeated Unia Tarnów 4-0 away, thanks to goals from Wiktor Szywacz, including one from the penalty spot, and goals from Maciej Kuziemka and Dominik Sarga.
Both teams entered this match eager to redeem themselves after a less-than-stellar start to their third-division matches. In the first half, both Wisła and Unia struggled to impose their own style and take control of the game. Wiktor Szywacz proved effective in the seventh minute, perfectly aiming a long-range shot into the top corner, leaving the home goalkeeper no chance. After opening the scoring, Wisła attempted to build on further organized attacks, while their opponents sought a quick equalizer. However, both teams remained rife with errors and turnovers, and the fans had to wait a while for further chances. In the 36th minute, fortune smiled on the visitors – after a foul on Karol Tokarczyk in the penalty area, the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Wiktor Szywacz stepped up and confidently slotted the ball into the net, extending his team's lead.
A three-point performance
After the break, the locals looked to quickly attack and respond with a shot on target, but their attempts were inconsistent. The Kraków team also showed no signs of slowing down, searching for further opportunities in front of Unia's goal. Ultimately, the second half also saw few chances, but the visitors managed to threaten the Tarnów goalkeeper several times. Dominik Sarga had his chances, and Maciej Kuziemka also tried to find the back of the net. The young Wisła player finally found the target in the 75th minute, reacting perfectly to a corner kick in the chaos in the penalty area and beating the opposing goalkeeper. Just before the end of regulation time, the Kraków team again gave their opponents a hard time thanks to a well-placed strike from Dominik Sarga. Karol Sałamaj delivered a cross directly onto the Wisła striker's head, making the score 4-0.
