Breaking the Streak: #WISMIE Preview

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, Wisła Kraków will face the third-placed team in the Betclic 1 League, Miedź Legnica, at the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium. The league match, part of the 19th round of the season, will kick off at 9:00 PM.

The team from western Poland has struggled to maintain consistent form. In their last four league matches, they have earned just 5 of a possible 12 points. Their strong point is their defense, which Wisła must try to overcome. Defenders Kovačević and Hartherz are both defensive anchors and offensive threats, combining for 4 goals and 7 assists this season. Another player worth keeping an eye on is Iwo Kaczmarski, a young midfielder from Italian side Empoli, who is honing his skills in the Polish team.

After two straight defeats to Polonia Warszawa, the White Star needs a breakthrough. What better time than at home? In our hometown, Wisła has conceded only six goals in nine First League matches. A win would vault the Kraków team to sixth place in the table, which, if achieved at the end of the season, would qualify them for the playoffs for promotion to the Ekstraklasa.

The last match against Miedź Legnica took place in the 2023/2024 season. In the March match, the R22 team won in satisfactory fashion, thanks to a double from Angel Rodado. The Spanish striker has been in a bit of a scoring slump for several league matches. He last scored a goal almost a month ago, against Chrobry Głogów. If the Spaniard were to repeat the feat in this match, he would once again be the top scorer, and as we know this striker well, he is definitely capable of it.

Wisełka, only victory!
