Play-off Semi-Final: Match Preview #WISMIE
The semifinal of the playoffs for promotion to the PKO BP Ekstraklasa will be played on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 9:00 PM at the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium in Kraków. This will be one of two Thursday semifinal matches – the other will feature Wisła Płock taking on Polonia Warszawa.
Although Wisła ended the fall season outside the playoff spot, spring brought a significant improvement in their form. A series of strong results, improved defense, and offensive creativity saw the Kraków team steadily climb the table, ultimately finishing the regular season in fourth place with 59 points. The key moment came in the final league match in Rzeszów, where coach Mariusz Jop's team comfortably won 3-0, securing a playoff spot.
The White Star's Thursday semifinal opponent will be Miedź Legnica – a team that also remained in contention for direct promotion almost until the very end of the season. Legnica finished just behind Kraków's Wisła Kraków, in fifth place, meaning their paths will cross again this season. This is a team with offensive potential, but also with fluctuating form. The two teams, of course, faced each other twice in the regular season. The match ended in a 1-1 draw in Kraków, and Wisła lost 1-2 in Legnica. The playoff clash, however, is a completely different story – it's decided by one match, and the Kraków team will certainly be looking to recoup the points they lost in Legnica.
Wisła's fans could become a key asset, as they're well on their way to filling the R22 stadium to capacity. It's no surprise – we're facing one of the most important challenges of this long season – a match that could pave the way to the grand finale of the play-offs. We're counting on full mobilization, a fight until the last minute, and, of course, shared sporting excitement!
Everyone to R22, for dreams!
