Oliwier Micek joins the White Star
Wisła Kraków's second-team squad has been bolstered by 19-year-old Oliwier Micek. The center-back joined Wawel on a temporary transfer from third-division side Warta Gorzów Wielkopolski and will represent the White Star's reserves in the spring round. His contract runs until June 30th, but the R22 club has secured an option to buy the player.
Oliwier Micek was born on December 17, 2004, and began his football career at Polonia Chodzież, where he played for numerous youth teams. In the 2019/2020 season, he moved to third-division Warta Gorzów Wielkopolski, and a year later, he made his senior debut for the club at the district league level, playing for the club's second team. That same season, he also made his first appearance in the third division. He made 10 appearances and scored one goal in the autumn round of the current third-division season. He also appeared for the club's second team, playing in the fourth division, making seven appearances.
"I feel great and proud to be a Wisła Kraków player. I started with trials, which didn't last long, but from the moment I joined the team, things seemed to be getting better and better. I'm getting along well with my teammates and coaches. The first pre-season friendly was tough for us, but after the second one, it was clear we were all getting along better," said the 19-year-old after signing the contract.
"I think my greatest strength on the pitch is my ability to play the ball out of defense. I also feel good when I need to play a long pass, for example, diagonally. I think I'm also quite good at heading the ball. Our most important team goal is, of course, promotion to the third division, and we'll work hard to achieve that. As for my individual goal, I'd like to reduce the number of goals we concede as much as possible, and I'll do everything I can to help in that regard," concluded the young defender.
Good luck!
