Home stretch: #ZSOWIS announcement
After a May weekend filled with cup excitement, it's time to get back to league duties! The 31st round of FORTUNA 1 Liga action will conclude on Monday with a match between Zagłębie Sosnowiec and Wisła Kraków. The match kicks off on May 6th at 6:00 PM at ArcelorMittal Park.
Wisła and Zagłębie are two distinguished names. The history of their football rivalry dates back to 1954, when the two clubs have faced each other 81 times. This translates to 31 wins for the White Star, 27 for Sosnowiec, and 23 draws. The last match between these teams, played in the autumn at the stadium on Reymonta Street, was a draw. The scoreboard after a somewhat disappointing 90 minutes of play indicated a goalless draw.
Today's pre-match situation looks quite different. Wisła, buoyed by their success in the Polish Cup final, will arrive at the league's "red light" stadium. The Red-Green-Whites are in last place – 18th – in the table, and with a meager 15 points, they've long since lost any chance of relegation. Wisła, on the other hand, needs a victory to get closer to the podium finishers, GKS Katowice, who defeated Stal Rzeszów impressively 8-0 at home. This will also be a special match for Szymon Sobczak. The striker represented Zagłębie Sosnowiec for the past two seasons.
With less than a month left until the end of the league season, Wisła Kraków will return to action after a grueling 120 minutes at the PGE National Stadium with a nearly full squad. The squad is missing Bartosz Talar, who is recovering from surgery, and David Juncà, who is struggling with a shoulder injury.
Together for promotion!
