Młyński: I have to prove that I deserve to play for Wisła Kraków

After a loan spell at Górnik Łęczna, Mateusz Młyński has returned to the R22. The winger gained valuable experience there, which he will look to utilize in his time with Wisła Kraków.

"I've finished the season, which was supposed to give me as many minutes on the pitch as possible, and that's what mattered most to me. I needed to play to rebuild myself, to feel the excitement of being on the pitch regularly in league matches again. My start in Łęczna didn't go well for me, though, as I picked up an injury quite early on and didn't play for a long time, but fortunately, things turned out much better after that. I recovered, got back into good shape, and played regularly. Exactly as I had planned before the loan. It was a precious time for me. Now, however, I'm back at Wisła to help them, my teammates, and finally fight harder for my place here," he began. "Football sometimes writes different scenarios, and in this case, the circumstances just so happened that this goal decided the play-offs. However, we worked all season for this. For me, the most important thing was that I played regularly, because thanks to it, my form improved and the numbers started to appear next to my name. Now I'd like to translate my good form in Łęczna into playing for Wisła. I hope to earn a place in the squad in Kraków as well," he noted.

The Krakow team will be competing in the league at the start of the season and in the Europa League qualifiers. "We're taking it all very calmly for now. Of course, we know that the first Europa League qualifier is fast approaching. We'll definitely want to win and advance, because it's a competition, and you always want to win, even in friendlies. But of course, we're also fully aware that in the first league, we also need to start collecting points consistently from the very first matches," he said.

So far, Mateusz Młyński hasn't played for the White Star as much as he'd like. Does he expect that to change under Kazimierz Moskal's management? "It'll all depend on me anyway. I know that since I'm here today, I should get my chance, but no one will take it for me. I have to prove with my attitude and play that the year I spent on loan has made me a better player and that I deserve to play for Wisła Kraków," he continued.

The players from Wawel have already completed a crucial period of preparation, which took place during the training camp in Wola Chorzelowska. How is the midfielder feeling physically? "It was a valuable camp, where we worked hard. We trained twice a day. There was only one training session the day before the match against Puszcza. Of course, as is typical in the preparation period, after days and training sessions, the fatigue set in and was palpable. It was work that had to be done, but I think we'll slowly recover and reach optimal fitness," concluded Mateusz Młyński.
