Moskal: We have matches every three days
The training camp in Wola Chorzelowska has concluded, culminating in a friendly match against Puszcza Niepołomice. Immediately after the friendly, coach Kazimierz Moskal shared his observations.
"The first half was definitely much better for us. I think we had control of what was happening on the pitch. There was a lot of quality. We perhaps lacked the greed in the penalty area to finish off chances. In the second half, several players were forced out of their positions. There was less of that quality, and we conceded a goal from a set piece, which was to be expected. I have my first more complete picture of this squad and some initial conclusions. We definitely need reinforcements, there's no doubt about that. As for the two new players, I think Rafał Mikulec was doing well at left-back. Olivier Sukiennicki also showed up often, was on the ball, and was mobile. It's clear that these were their first matches with their new team, and that probably had an impact on their performance, but overall they left a positive impression," began the Wisła Kraków coach.
In the second half, Patryk Gogół started in Wisła's attack. Is signing a striker a priority for the White Star? "As I said, several players were out of position in the second half. Among them was Patryk Gogół in attack, who played as a false nine, like the Spanish sometimes did. However, we needed eleven players to finish this match. Is the attacking lineup the most urgent issue? I think the left-back lineup is even more urgent. We don't have a substitute there. Mariusz Kutwa was forced to play in that position." There's no time, conclusions are in, but judging by the performance in the first half, there's some hope," he added. Mateusz Młyński returned to Wisła after his loan spell and was in the starting lineup for the match against Puszcza. "For now, I have my first impression of the team, also after this first friendly. Młyński looked good in training. In the match, he might not have had many memorable actions, but we'll see. We have to realize that we're done with camp. We have one more friendly and then the match, which is why the first team played a little longer. In the second half, the players got less playing time, but we don't have that time anymore," he continued.
Kuba Wiśniewski, who performed well in the reserves, also attended the camp with the first team. "It's definitely a step up for him. He's a young guy. When we went to the camp, we didn't have a right-back at all, because Bartek Jaroch hadn't trained with us yet. Rafał Mikulec wasn't there either. We had some problems, hence the decision to bring Kuba on. We'll definitely be monitoring his progress. For now, Kuba is staying with us because we don't have an alternative right-back. Of course, Rafał Mikulec is there, and he can play there if there's a major problem. However, we want to have competition in every position, because that's what determines our level of play. And secondly, we still have to remember the European competitions. We have matches every three days, and we won't be able to manage everything with one eleven players," he analyzed.
When asked if transfer activity could be expected in the near future, the coach replied: "We are in contact with President Jarosław Królewski. Something is happening all the time, but these matters are incredibly fluid. Sometimes it seems we are close with a player, and then suddenly he goes to another club. Until we sign the documents, there is no point in announcing who we want or who we are talking to."
Luis Jakobi will not be a trial player for Wisła Kraków. How does Kazimierz Moskal assess him? "He wasn't far from the level of young players, but when looking for someone abroad, we have to think about him being a leading figure in the team. My assessment of him is not negative. I won't say he's incapable of anything, but we expected something more," he explained.
