Mikhailov: Today I saw my team playing like a senior team
Wisła Kraków's second-place team finally broke their losing streak and claimed victory, defeating Podhale Nowy Targ 5-0 on home soil. After the match, coach Aleksandr Mikhailov praised his players' performance.
Coach Aleksander Mikhailov's players rose to the occasion and engaged their rivals from Nowy Targ in a fierce battle from the very beginning. Ultimately, the home side proved more effective, finding the back of the net five times thanks to two goals from Filip Baniowski and goals from Mateusz Młyński, Maciej Kuziemka, and Karol Tokarczyk. As the coach recalls, despite the high score, the match wasn't easy, with their opponents bringing out some serious heavyweights against Wisła Kraków.
"Today we faced a very good opponent who presented us with tough conditions. This match was intense not only from a motor perspective, but also tactically challenging. The opponent caused us a lot of problems in the penalty area, also after set pieces, and in the build-up. We sometimes had difficulties on the flanks of defense, so I have great respect for the guys that we managed to play with zero at the back. What's very important for me is that today I saw my team playing like a senior team. We created an advantage in the first half, withstood the pressure at the beginning of the second, and when our opponents opened up more towards the end, we scored more goals," said coach Aleksandr Mikhailov.
