Undefeated leader: Wisła - Lechia 3:4

The 32nd round match of the FORTUNA 1 League between Wisła Kraków and Lechia Gdańsk did not end well for the hosts. After the final whistle, the scoreboard read 3-4, meaning the White and Greens returned to Gdańsk with three points and promotion to the Ekstraklasa.

Both teams started the match cautiously, with the ball mostly confined to midfield. The first dangerous opportunity came from the duo of Rodado and Goku in the eighth minute. A poor save by the defender landed the ball at the latter's feet, but the midfielder's shot was skillfully blocked and cleared for a corner.

In the 19th minute, after a well-dribbled move on the edge of the penalty area, Baena won a free kick. Angel Rodado stepped up to take the shot, soon sending the stadium stands into a frenzy of celebration. The stunning shot sailed over the wall, bounced off the crossbar, and found the Lechia goal! The score read 1-0, and the visitors soon began their fight to equalize.

Coach Grabowski's men responded very well to the conceded goal, immediately forcing Wisła into a deep defensive position. The most striking figure for the Kraków side during this period was Anton Chichkan, repeatedly saving his teammates. However, after a series of solid saves, he was forced to surrender, and Maksym Khlan unleashed a superb shot from outside the penalty area. The score was tied 1-1 after the 33rd minute.

Wisła struggled to get back on track. Lechia aggressively fought back, preventing the hosts from building any chances. Lechia even came close to taking the lead, but Kapić's shot only found the Wisła goal. Irritated by this, the White Star players decided to launch an attacking attack, which earned them a goal at this crucial moment. After a corner, the ball found Bartosz Jaroch in the penalty area, who scored from close range in the 44th minute to give his team the lead – it was 2-1!

Just when it seemed this would be the last goal of the first half, the Green and Whites skillfully moved the ball into Wisła's penalty area. Mena received the ball and won a penalty for his team—in a seemingly harmless situation. Tomasz Neugebauer stepped up to give his team the equalizer just before the break.

A difficult 45 minutes

From the start of the second half, the Gdańsk team continued their exceptionally offensive tactics. Adapting to this style of play, Wisła sought opportunities on the counterattack, exploiting the wings and width of the pitch. Lechia continued to press high, often creating opportunities for the R22 team in the paint.

It was after one of these interceptions that the visitors began their attack. Once again, Camilo Mena proved to be the main culprit, quickly moving the ball and allowing himself to be fouled near the end line. Referee Frankowski again decisively signaled for a penalty, also showing David Junca a second yellow card. Neugebauer confidently converted the penalty, giving the visitors their first lead of the match. Wisła were forced to chase the score with a man down from the 58th minute.

Playing with ten men against a highly skilled opponent was exceptionally difficult. In the 71st minute, Zhelizko delivered a skillful pass from deep, creating a 3-on-2 advantage for his strikers. They ruthlessly capitalized on this opportunity, and Khlan slotted the ball into the empty net, scoring a double and increasing the score to 2-4.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of the bad news. Lechia continued to threaten Chichkan's goal with a large number of players. The referee deemed that Joseph Colley was illegally holding Chichkan in a one-on-one situation, resulting in a direct red card. Wisła finished the match with nine men.

The hosts, supported by thunderous support from the stands, refused to give up. In the 88th minute, just like with the first goal, Wisła managed to win a dangerous free kick, and Rodado took possession. The Spaniard's shot hit the hand of a defender standing in the wall, prompting the referee to immediately flag it down. The defender who won it himself stepped up to award his third penalty of the day and fired a powerful shot to give the hosts the lead. With the score at 3-4, we soon entered stoppage time.

The additional five minutes, however, brought no change to the most important statistic: goals scored. Both sides fought heroically for a favorable final result. Despite promising chances, the eighth goal failed to materialize, and the exciting contest ended 3-4 in favor of the visitors.
