Karol Nędza is the new coach of Wisła Kraków reserves
Wisła Kraków has announced changes to its second-team coaching staff. Karol Nędza has been appointed as the team's new head coach, with Łukasz Kawa as his assistant. Both coaches, who previously managed the U-19 team, are intimately familiar with the club's structure and have worked with the White Star's youth players for years. This season, they successfully worked with the U-19 team.
Karol Nędza, born on September 4, 1989, is a Physical Education graduate of the Academy of Physical Education in Kraków. He holds a UEFA A Elite Youth coaching license. He began his football career with Górnik Wieliczka, but health problems forced him to retire early and focus on coaching young players. He has been with Wisła Kraków continuously since 2019, when he became an assistant coach for the reserves. He then held this role for three years with Wisła Kraków's U-18 teams. Since July 2023, he has been managing the U-19 team independently. In his first season, after a successful end to the season, he kept the team at a central level, only to enter the Polish Championship hunt in the following season. Wisła Kraków U-19 currently sits second in the table with 47 points, just three points behind leaders Legia Warsaw.
Łukasz Kawa will serve as an assistant coach on Karol Nędza's staff. Born on June 30, 1995, the coach began his football career in 2008, joining Hutnik Kraków. After retiring from playing, he focused on youth coaching, managing Hutnik's junior teams. Since 2021, he has been with Wisła Kraków, where he served as an assistant coach for the U-18 team and most recently worked with Nędza on the U-19 team. His experience and knowledge of young players will be valuable support in working with the reserves. Kawa is currently participating in the UEFA A Elite Youth course.
Krystian Żakowicz is leaving his role as assistant coach with the second team and will remain at the Academy in a different role. Mateusz Fortuna (physical conditioning coach), Sergiusz Mihajlow (goalkeeping coach), Grzegorz Pietrzyk and Ryszard Polak (physiotherapists), and Paweł Garbacz (manager) will continue to work with the team.
The new coach has an intense period ahead of him. In the next two weekend rounds, the opponents will be Pogoń-Sokół Lubaczów and Wiślanie Skawina, who are neighbors in the table. In between these matches, the White Star will return to the Polish Cup at the provincial level, facing LKS Jawiszowice.
