190.6 km for Wisła Kraków: a cycling tribute from fans
Passion. Determination. Loyalty to the club's colors. Wisła Kraków fans are once again getting on their bikes to pay tribute to their beloved team in a unique way. On Thursday, June 19, 2025, on Corpus Christi Day, the Wisła Kraków Cycling Group will set off on a symbolic journey from Wisła to Kraków. The route? Exactly 190.6 km – a number not coincidental, as it recalls the year the club was founded: 1906.
The event was held under the patronage of the Wisła History Association, commemorating the cycling section that operated within the club from 1948 to 1962. "Supporting such an initiative is an honor for us. The distance of 190.6 km is not just a number—it's a living history lesson. And the fact that the route runs through the Great Vistula adds a unique symbolism to the entire expedition," emphasizes Jakub Zalotyński, Vice President of the Association.
The Wisła Cycling Group (WGR) is an informal community of cycling and White Star fans. They cover thousands of kilometers each year, combining their love for the sport and the club, both at the stadium at Reymonta 22 and online – on X (formerly Twitter) and Strava. This year's expedition is coordinated by Marcin Kaliszka and Mariusz Stryczek. "190.6 kilometers is more than just a sporting challenge. It's an expression of respect for the history and strength of our community. We believe this expedition will become a tradition, uniting future generations of Wisła fans," says Maks Michalczak, one of the event's initiators. "For us, it's a combination of sporting passion and club identity. Every kilometer covered has its own significance and reminds us that Wisła is more than just football – it's a way of life," adds Marcin Kaliszka.
"We want to show that in today's world, full of rush and superficiality, it's possible to return to values: perseverance, respect for tradition, and community. That's why this expedition is so important," emphasizes Mariusz Stryczek.
The ride along the Vistula Cycling Route promises to be demanding, yet incredibly picturesque. It's a journey through the heart of the region, where sport meets tradition and shared passion. For Wisła fans, it's more than just a cycling trip. It's a living monument to the club's history and an inspiration for those who believe that the most beautiful stories are written not only in stadiums but also on routes rich with symbols.
