TS Wisła Kraków SA club statement regarding the match against Śląsk Wrocław
TS Wisła Kraków SA will not condone actions that undermine the foundations of professional football, the club's reputation, or the rights of our fans. Sports competition must take place on the pitch, based on clear rules and equal treatment for all participants.
Acting on behalf of TS Wisła Kraków Spółka Akcyjna with its registered office in Kraków (30-059) at ul. Reymonta 20, entered into the National Court Register under KRS number 0000130748, NIP 6771022149, as the President of the Management Board authorized to represent it individually,
In response to the published statement by Śląsk Wrocław, I declare that as a club we feel deeply outraged by its content and form.
The communication in question demonstrates extreme and unacceptable deficiencies and abuses of substance and argumentation, which deviate from the standards of professional communication in professional sports. The form and content of the publication raise serious concerns regarding the competence of those responsible for its preparation – including the Club's Management Board and legal staff. In our opinion, this situation requires the authors to deeply reflect on the reliability of their actions and professional ethics in relationships with sports partners.
Wisła Kraków, celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, has for years built its brand on responsibility, organizational culture, and respect for fair play. Our fans have repeatedly set an exemplary example of their behavior at away matches – both domestically and, most recently, in European competitions. We consider attempts to undermine their reputation and make exaggerated accusations to be unfair and detrimental to the club's reputation.
Due to the fact that the Śląsk Wrocław authorities are unable to guarantee the proper organisation of the meeting, TS Wisła Kraków SA is taking the following steps:
-
We expect an immediate, preventive response from the Polish Football Association, including:
- imposing the highest regulatory sanctions on Śląsk Wrocław, including negative points,
- in view of the decision of the Śląsk Wrocław authorities to close the stadium to fans of both teams or possibly move the match to Krakow.
-
TS Wisła Kraków SA will also submit a notice to the prosecutor's office to investigate whether any actions that may constitute criminal conduct are taking place in the decision-making process regarding the management of the stadium – a facility built with public funds – including exerting unlawful influence on management and disposing of public property in a manner contrary to the public interest. We expect full transparency and clear clarification of any concerns.
-
TS Wisła Kraków SA will submit a formal complaint to the European Commission regarding the potentially illegal public funding of Śląsk Wrocław, particularly in the context of state aid rules, the distortion of fair competition in professional sport, and the restriction of fan rights. The club will also refer the matter to the relevant FIFA and UEFA bodies for violations of the principles of equal and fair competition.
TS Wisła Kraków SA will not condone actions that undermine the foundations of professional football, the club's reputation, or the rights of our fans. Sports competition must take place on the pitch, based on clear rules and equal treatment for all participants.
We interpret the attitude of the Śląsk Wrocław authorities as an avoidance of responsibility for their decisions, which casts state authorities in a negative light in the context of ensuring public safety. We urge them to take immediate corrective measures. We emphasize that TS Wisła Kraków SA, as the operator, successfully organized matches in European competitions (including the match between Shakhtar Donetsk and Legia Warsaw), demonstrating full operational readiness to secure the visiting fans' sector even in conditions of increased risk. We see no reason why such an organization would exceed the organizational and intellectual capabilities of the Śląsk Wrocław management.
We expect the Śląsk Wrocław authorities to immediately change their approach and return to the standards that befit clubs operating in professional competitions.
Kind regards,
Jarosław the Royal
President of the Management Board / Main Shareholder - TS Wisła Kraków SA
