Krzyżanowski after #WISBYT: Determination was the key
Another first-division match for Wisła Kraków is behind us. This time, they faced Polonia Bytom at home. After a difficult encounter, the White Star secured all three points, winning 1-0. After the game, we spoke with Jakub Krzyżanowski, the defender of the 13-time Polish champions.
The Wisła Kraków defender admitted that their opponents played a good game on Monday evening, although it was Wisła who ultimately took the initiative. "The first half was evenly matched, with Polonia Bytom in the lead, but in the second half, we played better. The opposing team's pressing was effective, and at times it was difficult for us to break through, but as time went on, we created more space to play," Krzyżanowski began.
The White Star player also commented on the upcoming matches that Wisła will play in the next few days. "I think playing every three days won't be a problem for us, because in today's game the guys on the bench showed their quality, so the squad is ready for these matches," he assured, adding, "We're playing these matches against the top teams. These are crucial matches in this round, but we have to approach each game with 100 percent. That's why I think we have to focus on each match individually and play carefully."
The Kraków team's next match will be against another team from the capital of Małopolska – Wieczysta. Are thoughts already turning in the locker room towards their next opponent? "With the match against Wieczysta just three days away, we must now turn our thoughts to our next opponent. But on the other hand, we must approach it with a cool head and great determination to fight for our goal, which is three points," he continued.
The Wawel Castle player also commented on the large number of matches Wisła Kraków has in store for him in the coming days. Is it better for him to play every three days or less often? "With the match against Wieczysta just three days away, we have to turn our attention to our next opponent now. But on the other hand, we have to approach it with a cool head and a strong determination to fight for our goal, which is three points."
Jakub Krzyżanowski also revealed what he believed was the key to the victory against Polonia Bytom. "Determination was key. We all worked hard, and the first half was very even, but in the second half we continued our tactical approach and intensity, and I think that's what allowed us to win the match."
The draw for the next round of the Polish Cup will also take place soon. Who would our player like to face? "My 'dream' when it comes to our next opponent in the Polish Cup is either a derby match against Cracovia or Legia. That would be something special, as we haven't had such matches at Reymonta in a while, but we'll fight for victory against anyone," concluded Krzyżanowski.
