Calendar page: Wisła's last match before the outbreak of World War II
Tomorrow (August 20th) marks 85 years since Wisła's last match before the outbreak of World War II. On August 20th, 1939, the Sports Society defeated Warszawianka 4-2 at home, with goals from Artur Woźniak, Mieczysław Gracz, and two from Władysław Giergiel. At the time, Wisła was second in the table and had serious hopes of winning the championship. However, the competition was interrupted by the German invasion of Poland. During the occupation, Wisła continued its sports activities underground.
