Khromykh: We lacked efficiency and cool-headedness
The second-placed White Star team finished their league campaign in the fall round, and in their final match, which was already considered part of the second half of the season, they faced KSZO Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski away. The Kraków team failed to secure a victory, and it was their opponents who celebrated their victory, winning 2-1. After the match, Yehor Khromykh, who scored the visitors' only goal in the match, summed up Wisła II Kraków's performance.
Another difficult league match awaits the young Wisła team. From the outset, the Kraków team attempted to dominate their opponent against KSZO Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, but it proved no easy task, as the home side defended strongly and launched dangerous attacks of their own. The visitors also had their chances, rising to the occasion and trying to find the back of the net. Unfortunately, Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski proved more effective, scoring two shots on target, to which the Kraków team responded with only one goal.
"In my opinion, we dominated the first 10 minutes, but we couldn't maintain that momentum, and unfortunately, we conceded two goals in the first half. The second half was definitely better, and I think we had a chance to save the match if we had scored the first goal a little earlier, because there were opportunities to do so. However, we lacked the effectiveness and composure in the penalty area."
Yehor Khromykh put in a strong performance against KSZO Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. The White Star player came on in the 57th minute, replacing Piotr Starzyński, and sealed the change with a late goal.
"I think I entered the pitch well, I tried to create as many threats as possible. I was a bit lucky with the goal because after a blocked shot, the ball ended up at my feet and I just did what I had to do."
The hosts presented their opponents with a very difficult situation in this match, effectively dampening the Kraków team's enthusiasm and disrupting their attacks. According to the player, the Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski team was a demanding opponent, but the visitors also showed fighting spirit and commitment.
"They were a really solid opponent, one of the few in this league who actually tries to play football. From what we already know, we can play football and beat any team. I certainly can't say we were worse than KSZO."
For Wisła, it's time to take stock and draw conclusions, so they can soon return to training and best prepare for the second half of the season. What did the White Star player say about the spring session?
"We're currently second in the table in terms of goals scored, which is a very positive thing. On the other hand, we definitely need to work on our defense, because we're conceding quite a few goals, which translates into a large number of points lost."
