Kiakos: I'm glad we're in the next round
In Thursday's match against KF Llapi, Giannis Kiakos scored his first goal for Wisła Kraków, quickly scoring his first goal. What were the player's emotions after the match?
"It's incredible. I'm very happy with this first goal for Wisła. Of course, above all, I'm happy that the whole team won and that we're in the next round. I've only been at Wisła for a short time. Two weeks of training, the first matches, and I have to be honest, I'm not 100% ready to play yet. However, it's worth adding that my teammates and the entire staff are helping me adapt to the new club as quickly as possible, and it's working, because I feel very good at Wisła," he began.
The Greek's shot was powerful and precisely aimed, which helped secure the goal. "Precision was key. You had to find your way around the penalty area. Maybe I got that from my dad, who was a good goal scorer. Of course, you need a bit of luck. You needed a good pass, a bit of risk with the shot, but ultimately I'm happy it ended up in the net," he analyzed.
Kiakos seems to be a versatile player who can play at full-back, on the wing, and even in midfield. "As with any team, the coach ultimately makes the decision. Personally, I feel good when I can play as much forward as possible. Run from penalty area to penalty area. Even though I play left-back, I'm a very attacking player. But as I said, the coach ultimately makes the decision, and if he asked me to start in goal, I would. The team is the most important thing, and the coach decides," he said.
The next team on Wisła's schedule is Rapid Vienna. "They're a truly top-tier opponent. Today, we're very happy to have advanced to the next round, but we're also excited about the opportunity to face such an opponent in the next round. Our stadium will be packed again, and probably in Vienna as well. Our fans are incredible, as I saw during the first match. I hope they'll support us throughout the season, and together we'll celebrate many victories, and ultimately, the achievement of our most important goal: promotion to the Ekstraklasa," concluded Kiakos.
