Kutwa: I will fight to play as much as possible
Wisła Kraków defeated Wisła Płock 3-1 away in impressive style. It's often said that a solid defensive performance is the foundation of a good result. Mariusz Kutwa played in center-back during this match, commenting on his performance in an unconventional position.
The hosts managed to score a consolation goal in the final action of the match. Does this affect your overall assessment of the White Star defense, which you were a part of in this match? "I don't think so. We made a mistake in marking, which we've already pointed out. As a defense, we performed very well and deserved the victory," began Mariusz Kutwa.
There was also a question about taking on the role of center-back and working with Wiktor Biedrzycki. "I felt good as a center-back. Wiktor and I trained together this week, and I think we got along well and fulfilled our tasks as we should. Before the match, the coach advised me to start with simple plays and make increasingly bold decisions over time. That's what I did," he added.
Wisła didn't allow their opponents much. The Oilers, who are at the top of the league table, didn't resemble the team from previous rounds. Was the White Star surprised by this? "We were prepared, and their moves were predictable. Their opponents used simple methods, making it easier for us to win the ball back in defense," he assessed, also referring to the opinion that the Kraków team performs better against opponents who prefer an open style of football: "I have the impression that it doesn't depend on the team we're playing against, but on our form, and the last match against Górnik Łęczna was a complete accident. Now we want to continue our way and fight for three points in every match."
Mariusz Kutwa's performance in Płock allowed him to extend his relationship with Wisła Kraków: "I'm happy to be part of this team for years to come. I believe I've earned the minutes I've been given through hard work, and I'll fight to play as much as possible and help Wisła advance. That's my goal!" concluded Mariusz Kutwa.
