A page from the Wisła calendar
March 16th marks 22 years since a particularly significant event: Henryk Kasperczak became Wisła's coach on March 16, 2002. Under his guidance, one of the best club teams in the history of Polish football was formed, Wisła won the Polish Cup, three consecutive championship titles, and played memorable matches in European competitions.
But that's not the end of the special anniversaries, as tomorrow marks the 19th anniversary of Jakub Błaszczykowski's debut for Wisła! On March 16, 2005, Kuba, brought in from fourth-division KS Częstochowa, played in a Polish Cup match against Polonia Warszawa and scored a goal in the third minute. He later became one of the most outstanding Polish footballers, scoring 21 goals in 117 appearances for Wisła.
