Jaroch: The desire to score more goals was visible
Finally, a convincing league victory for Wisła Kraków. The White Star faced Odra Opole on Friday evening in the Round 22. Wisła proved to be clearly superior, defeating their opponent 5-0. What was Bartosz Jaroch's assessment of the match?
Commenting on Friday's matches, Bartosz Jaroch highlighted the power of streaks, which will hopefully be the case for the team from Wawel. "I believe this was a turning point for us, from which we'll get a nice streak, because that's what we need. I think the first half lacked effectiveness, because the game looked good. It was similar to the second half, except that in the second half, we were more effective. We capitalized on our opportunities," he noted.
For the first dozen or so minutes of the match, the game was played without any support from Wisła Kraków fans. "We focus primarily on what's happening on the pitch, but when the fans cheer us on, it really motivates us. The support at Reymont Stadium is fantastic, and it's a shame the fans aren't with us on away games," said the defender.
One of the team's adjustments was a change in coaching. The White Star is now led by coach Mariusz Jop. "Coach Jop brought his own ideas, but I'd like to say that the previous matches were good, but there were no goals. I don't know if we played better this season than in the first half of the match against Warta, and until now, there were no goals. We regret that in previous matches we weren't able to capitalize on the chances we had," the player continued, noting: "It's good that we managed to overcome our scoring deficit at the beginning of the second half. The team showed a desire to score more goals, which was important."
Wisła's striker, Łukasz Zwoliński, put in a strong performance in Friday's match, finally earning his name. "I could see after the third goal that the pressure was slowly lifting. I don't know who was more stressed – him or Letkiewicz," smiled Jaroch. "As for Patryk, it's great; he had a great debut. He didn't have many opportunities to prove himself, but he was giving hints from the back, and you could see his confidence with his feet, so it was really positive. He settled in well, and I think he'll gain even more confidence after a match like that," he praised his teammate.
The coach of Odra Opole is Radosław Sobolewski, a player well-known to White Star fans. Could his presence on the team have played a role in figuring out the opponent? "Coach Sobolewski is definitely an important figure at Wisła; I had the opportunity to work with him for a while and have fond memories of him. I wish him all the best. But did our acquaintance make it easier to figure out the opponent? Not necessarily," he noted.
