Jop: Winning is always a positive thing
Wisła concluded their Saturday with a friendly against Dukagjini Klinë, which the Kraków team won 4-1. We asked coach Mariusz Jop for a summary of the second friendly played in Turkey.
"Scoring goals and winning is always a positive thing that brings joy and satisfaction. This friendly was a culmination of the first week of training camp – a very demanding week for the players in terms of work. I must say that everyone was really committed and gave it their all. We will continue training with this attitude next week. As for the match itself, we obviously had our tactical assumptions. There were many things that looked good, but there were also things that needed improvement. However, we also have to take into account the high level of fatigue, which affected some elements of our game," began coach Mariusz Jop. "It's a bit difficult to compare the two halves. In the first half, the opponents were retreating to a medium defense and we had more freedom to build attacks because they weren't really pressing us high. It was a situation we often encounter in the league. We tried to create our chances in this situation. In the second half, we were faced with two different ways of playing. One – when they came higher up to us and we played from the goal, and the other – when they were very low down. This was interesting for us because we could practice certain things. The team we played against had several players with high individual skills. Therefore, it wasn't easy to win duels against them. Sometimes, on the other hand, we were too easily outplayed, but as I said before – this is also an element that is largely influenced by freshness and aggressiveness, and currently, the players have a lot of legs. We were effective in the first half, but not in the second. Maybe we should have controlled the game more then; sometimes we were too rushed. We had to work a lot in defense, because even when the opponent was low down, He had a lot of composure in his game, he kept the ball. Both halves cost us a lot in terms of physical work, but that's very good, especially during this period," he added.
This time, two goalkeepers had a chance to show their skills in the friendly, but the third, Kamil Broda, was missing. "We'll rotate the lineup. We still have two more friendly matches. This time, two goalkeepers played 45 minutes each; previously, three played 30 minutes each. In the next match, we'll decide to use another pair. We'll split the schedule so everyone has a chance to show their skills, because they also work very well here in every training session, and we want to give them the opportunity to show their skills in the friendly," concluded coach Mariusz Jop.
