Grygiel: This season was the best of my life

The PZU Amp Futbol Ekstraklasa season has concluded . Wisła Kraków once again proved that they are by far the best team in Poland, comfortably winning the league. After the tournament concluded in Warsaw, we spoke with one of the season's heroes : Kamil Grygiel.

Wisła Kraków entered the final tournament in the Amp Futbol Ekstraklasa as Polish champions . Despite this, the White Star team was clearly determined to win each and every match . match . " For every match We approach it with the intention of winning . Our goal for this season was n't just to win the Polish Championship and the Champions League. We wanted to finish it unbeaten. We didn't lose in the Champions League either, with a few draws. My experience from last season is that even though we managed to win the last tournament in Bielsko, also entering it as Polish Champions, our heads work differently. There's more slack, and more mistakes creep in, " Kamil Grygiel began. How do you manage this and maintain your focus until the very end? " We've been together a long time, and this isn't the first time this has happened. We're experienced players, and we work on each other mentally. We bet before matches to win by as many goals as possible. We bet on ridiculous things. It's a mental game. We've been playing with the same lineup for years, with only a few changes. We're well-coordinated and know how to get along, " assured the Wisła player. In the just-concluded Amp Futbol Ekstraklasa season , the Kraków team played very well, easily winning the entire competition . Was there a moment that Kamil Grygiel will remember most vividly? "It's hard to say if there was any " A key moment . Every tournament had something special about it, but the most surprising for me was the tournament in Radom , after returning from the European Championship, where we lost our first points of the season to Śląsk Wrocław ," he said, continuing : " It was a cold shower for us. The team from Wrocław showed they were capable of taking points from us, then they repeated it in Poznań and here in Warsaw . That was the most shocking, because doubts started to creep into our minds. We could have looked for excuses, but we needed it so we wouldn't approach matches thinking we'd beat anyone. Every team deserves respect, and we have to give 120 percent on the pitch, " Wiślak commented. Kamil Grygiel was one of the key figures in the White Star team this year. His good form significantly helped the White Star to achieve " For me, this season is the best season of my life in terms of club achievements. We also won a European Championship medal as a national team. This year there was a lot of joy and nice moments. In terms of on- field form, I think Wisła Kraków played at a higher level than last year." " – said the White Star player. Apart from the Polish Championship title, the Krakow team also won also the Champions League – as the first team from our country. Right from the start, they were facing against the tournament favorites, whom Wisła defeated confidently. " At the very beginning of the match, in the 5th minute against Turkish Sahinbey , we felt we were going to win. We had a feeling we were going to win this match. The opponent started to fear us; they didn't want to play football. They tried to play with one player, which didn't work for them, " he commented. " That was a signal for us to play every match to the end. We talked among ourselves, but we didn't want to get too excited. However, we knew we were the favorites to win the Champions League because the toughest match was behind us, but we were hoping to meet them in the final ," he admitted. The team from Wawel has a great atmosphere in every match and at every tournament. Wisła has created an incredibly cohesive team, which translates into results. " I've been at Wisła since the beginning of my career; I haven't been in any other team, so I don't want to judge the atmosphere at other clubs . If I were to say it from the outside, the atmosphere at Wisła is top-notch. We're friends – on and off the pitch. Even if we're not at training camps or matches, we still keep in touch, and everyone can count on each other, " concluded the 2024 season's top scorer.
