Finale: #WISBBT Preview

In the final round of the league season, Wisła Kraków will host Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza. As with all other matches in the 34th FORTUNA 1 Liga series, the clash between the Lesser Poland teams will kick off on May 26th at 3:00 PM.

A final, a fight for everything, or a last-ditch match – all these terms, in a way, reflect the difficult situation Wisła Kraków finds itself in. After a series of league setbacks, coach Albert Rudé's side find themselves in ninth place in the table, significantly out of the playoff spot. However, this doesn't mean the White Star has completely lost their chance of promotion to the Ekstraklasa. The first and most important step in this direction will be defeating Marcin Brosz's team, who sent a serious warning signal in the previous round by defeating GKS Tychy by a resounding 6-1 score.

It's often said that the worst-case scenario in football is one in which a favorable outcome depends solely on oneself. Wisła will face precisely such circumstances in their final match – a victory over the club from Nieciecza may not guarantee them a place in the playoffs. The course of the remaining matches, which will simultaneously determine the final standings, will also be crucial.

The squad situation was a frequently discussed topic in the media. Our team enters the final part of the regular season with a rather extensive absence list. Due to injuries and suspensions, the Wisła Kraków coaching staff will be forced to omit a total of seven players when selecting their squad. Throughout the week, several young players from the reserve team were included in training sessions with the first team, ready to step in if needed.

As our coach himself emphasized, the players in red shirts will devote all their attention to what's happening on the pitch. The right solution is to focus on the aspects that are still on the White Star's side, namely a strong performance against the popular Elephants. Only then, by securing full points, will we be able to look at situations on other pitches.

Together for victory!
