Dziedzic: We will do everything next week to stand up for ourselves
Thursday was all about European competition. Wisła Kraków played another Conference League qualifier. This time, the White Star's opponent was Cercle Brugge. The Belgians proved to be much better than the 13-time Polish champions, defeating them 6-1. After the match, we spoke with Karol Dziedzic.
Assessing the match against Cercle, the Wisła Kraków player pointed out that the result could have been slightly more favorable for the hosts: "I think we could have avoided some goals in the first half, but we weren't ourselves in this match. The opponent is taking away a high score, but we'll do everything we can to stand up to them next week."
Karol Dziedzic got the chance to play in the second half. It was a good test for him against a well-organized opponent. How does he assess the match as played? "These minutes will definitely give me a lot. I'm happy to have played in European competition, but the result was what it was. I wanted to give the team a boost and perform as well as possible. I did everything I could. I think we were a bit overwhelmed by those two early goals, and that was a consequence of our subsequent actions on the pitch. That tipped the balance in our opponent's favor," he said.
Wisła Kraków's players also had their chances to score during Thursday's match. Ultimately, they managed to find the net only once. "We definitely need goals to win games, but the most important thing is not to concede them. If you don't concede goals, you'll definitely create something up front. If we play our own game, we'll have attacking chances, but we need to improve our defense," commented the Wisła player.
We also asked how Thursday's opponents would rank against their European rivals. "I think they were certainly physically very strong. The players are good at running and moving well around the pitch. Comparing Brugge to Rapid, the Austrians used the ball better and were more consistent in their attacking moves," he continued.
The final post-match comment was about the White Star fans, who once again turned out for Reymont, undoubtedly displaying European standards. "We value this very much. We know we can always count on their support. They're with us from the first to the last minute, and that's what drives us to win matches. We'll do everything to meet expectations," he concluded.
