CLJ U-19: A well-deserved victory in a tough match
In the 22nd round of the Central Junior League, the team led by coach Karol Nędza faced Escola Varsovia in Myślenice. The match was full of excitement, fierce midfield battles, and numerous dangerous chances at both ends. Ultimately, the home side were able to claim victory, winning 1-0 thanks to a fantastic free kick by Alex Bugaj.
From the opening whistle, the pace of the game was incredibly fast. Both teams tried to impose their style, and the action moved dynamically from one half of the pitch to the other. Wisła were slightly more adept at building offensive plays, attempting to control the match by maintaining possession for extended periods. The visitors, on the other hand, demonstrated determination in their possession and counterattacked dangerously. The hosts created the first clear opportunity when Alex Bugaj passed the ball into the penalty area to Łukasz Staniów, who cleverly passed it to Radosław Wójcicki. He brilliantly deflected the ball past his opponent and fired home, but goalkeeper Escola's reflexes were brilliant. Moments later, Tomasz Dusik tried his luck with a ground shot, but the ball went straight to the visiting goalkeeper. Over time, the Warsaw side began to push forward with more confidence. Around the 25th minute, the Kraków side were forced back into their own half and forced to play a cautious defense. Escola had the first shot on target, and Maciej Wolicki hesitated for a moment – the ball slipped from his hands, but he quickly caught it, quelling the potential threat. Escola's most dangerous situation came in the 39th minute, when one of the visiting players fired a shot. Maciej Wolicki misread his intentions, but the ball hit the side netting.
A hit that counts as a victory
After the break, the home side emerged with even greater intensity, trying to re-impose their style of play. In the 49th minute, Radosław Wójcicki burst into the penalty area, looking to threaten the opposition's goal, but was stopped at the last moment by the intervening goalkeeper, Escola. Moments later, Wiktor Benedyktowicz stepped up to take a free kick and shot directly at goal, but the ball narrowly missed the post. The decisive moment came in the 65th minute, when Wisła won a free kick. Alex Bugaj stepped up to the plate, and his shot was the highlight of the match. The ball flew over the wall and into the top corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance. Both sides continued their attacks for the remainder of the match, and emotions ran high. Ultimately, the score remained unchanged, and it was the home side who were able to celebrate their three points.
