It's time for the Polish Cup

The Polish Cup is full of unexpected twists and turns and the essence of sport. In the competition, which began on September 24th, every team – regardless of their level – has the opportunity to make history in Polish football. This year's 71st edition of the Polish Cup has been providing fans with plenty of excitement from the very first round – with plenty of surprises, and teams such as Lech Poznań, Raków Częstochowa, Cracovia, and Lechia Gdańsk, among others, having been eliminated early. Now Wisła Kraków is entering the fray!

The White Star, as the winner of the previous edition of the Cup, begins its struggles in the round of 16. At this stage of the competition we have 11 teams from PKO BP Ekstraklasa (Jagiellonia Białystok, Śląsk Wrocław, Legia Warsaw, Widzew Łódź, GKS Katowice, Pogoń Szczecin, Piast Gliwice, Korona Kielce, Puszcza Niepołomice, Radomiak Radom, Zagłębie Lublin), 9 teams from Betclic 1st League (Wisła Kraków, Odra Opole, Kotwica Kołobrzeg, Warta Poznań, Ruch Chorzów, Polonia Warsaw, Miedź Legnica, Arka Gdynia, ŁKS Łódź), 4 from Betclic 2nd League (Pogoń Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Olimpia Grudziądz, Chojniczanka Chojnice, Resovia) and 8 from Betclic 3rd League (Sandecja Nowy Sącz, Avia Świdnik, Siarka Tarnobrzeg, Lechia Zielona Góra, MKS Kluczbork, Wigry Suwałki, Lech II Poznań, Unia Skierniewice).

The Polish Cup Round of 16 matches will take place on October 29-30. However, due to the planned renovation of the Tarnobrzeg Municipal Stadium, the Polish Football Association's National Competitions Department has set the Round of 16 match between Siarka Tarnobrzeg and Wisła Kraków for Saturday, October 12, at 2:15 PM.

Siarka Tarnobrzeg isn't among the favorites, but in the previous round they showed they can fight, winning 4-1 against the team from Starachowice. The White Star team must be vigilant to avoid the fate of other teams, such as those from the Ekstraklasa, which have already been eliminated from this year's competition. As we know, fans' appetites for the R22 are already piqued after their triumph in the previous edition.
