There was a match: Wisła Kraków - ŁKS Łódź 1:0, 01/10/1999
1999 can be described as the beginning of a beautiful period in the history of the White Star, however, the 1999/2000 season was not yet – as it later turned out – the peak of the Reymont players' potential. In the 11th round, Wisła Kraków had to face Łódź.
Two seasons after achieving their historic Polish Championship title, they found themselves in a form slump. Wisła Kraków struggled to find consistent form after five wins, followed by two defeats and three draws. Against the Knights of Spring, coach Jerzy Kowalik fielded a strong lineup, featuring legendary names like Tomasz Frankowski, Maciej Żurawski, and Kazimierz Moskal.
The match was evenly matched, with both teams determined to secure victory. ŁKS came close to scoring several times, but lacked the finishing touch. Eventually, Wisła pulled one back in the 43rd minute, scoring with a shot from Ryszard Czerwiec.
The second half, despite the visitors' chances, yielded no goals. The White Star manager himself revealed that despite injuries to several key players, he was pleased with the favorable result. As it later turned out, the subsequent results didn't allow them to win the league, only to finish second, but it was undoubtedly an incredibly valuable lesson for the Reymont team, which reached the top of the podium the following season.
