Bąk: Our debut was successful
The reserve team kicked off their Betclic III League campaign with a draw against KSZO Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. Coach Bartosz Bąk assessed the match during his post-match press conference.
Although they failed to defeat KSZO Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski in their first league match, the Kraków team can certainly consider their third-division debut a success. Wisła boldly challenged their opponents and, at times, maintained control of the game, launching dangerous attacks. Maciej Kuziemka found the back of the net after one of them.
"We started the match in good style. We scored quickly and the first 15-20 minutes of the match definitely belonged to us. We were pressing intensely, and this is an element that we really care about in our way of playing. Towards the end of this part of the match, we gave the initiative to the opponent, there was less pressing, as a result of which the opponents started to dominate possession of the ball and thus created chances in front of our goal. In the second part, we again initially looked better, we were active in pressing and it was intense, thanks to which we prevented the opponent from quickly exchanging passes. Towards the end, a lot of nerves crept in and direct play prevailed. We respect the one point we gained in the opening match of the season. Before this match, there were many question marks about our performance compared to the opponent, who already has a lot of experience in the third division. I think our debut was successful, although it cannot be denied that we are still dissatisfied, especially in possession. However, we are pleased that we created many chances and we were able to stand up to our opponents"
During the press conference, the coach also addressed the question of player exchanges between the reserves and the first team. He said that the club's current approach and concept to this topic have changed.
"After coach Moskal took over the team, the club's vision and strategy changed slightly. I think it was a good move, and Mateusz Młyński's arrival is beneficial for both sides. I spoke with Mateusz before the match, and he himself is aware that playing in third-division competitions can help him build his form, disposition, and maintain his match rhythm. His presence in the team is a great support for us, thanks to which we have a player with experience in higher leagues, which is also a good motivation for the younger teammates. Such transfers will happen this season, as it benefits both parties. The reserve players will have good competition to compete with in training, while the first-team players will have a chance to play against each other."
