No rematch: #POLWIS 2:0
Wisła Kraków failed to avenge Polonia's defeat in the Polish Cup. In Friday's match, the hosts defeated the White Star 2-0, securing the three points.
The opening period brought two attacks for Wisła. Both were led by Zwoliński, whose pressing was thwarted by Rodado and Kiss, who then took a foul shot himself. The opening came in the seventh minute when Vega forced Letkiewicz to send the ball out for a corner. Kołodziejski then tried, but to no avail.
The next phase was dominated by play in midfield, until the 25th minute, when Polonia took the lead after a free kick successfully converted by Michał Kołodziejski. Wisła attempted an immediate response, but their accuracy was poor.
The final phase of the first half saw more frequent attacks from Polonia, who clearly gained momentum. Before halftime, they punished the White Star for the second time, with Łukasz Zjawiński scoring a header. No further goals were scored before the break, meaning the Kraków side had to scramble to make up for the deficit after the break.
Without changes
At halftime, coach Jop made one change. Jesus Alfaro replaced Tamas Kiss.
After the break, the Kraków side had a clear advantage, but they were unable to capitalize on it. In the 71st minute, Baena received a pass behind the defenders and raced towards the opposing goal. There, he was illegally stopped, giving Wisła a free kick. It proved ineffective, but moments later, Carbo attempted a shot, but the Black Shirts defenders managed to convert the ball. Rodado also had a shot on goal, but the ball ultimately went wide of the post.
With fifteen minutes remaining, the Polonia penalty area became increasingly dangerous, with players from the R22 passing the ball in. However, the final pass was still lacking, with Kuchta either intercepting the ball or having the ball saved by well-positioned defenders.
