The unrivaled Rodado! Results of the PZP plebiscite
In a vote organized by the Polish Football Association, 1st League players selected the best players in the Ekstraklasa for the 2023/2024 season. Representatives of seven clubs received awards.
#FootballersChoose is a unique poll, the results of which depend entirely on the players. Players competing at a given league level participate, and they select the best players, taking into account the weekly league competition, meaning not only results and the final standings, but also direct experience playing against individual teams and players. Based on their votes, the league's top eleven of the season is selected, and individual awards are also granted.
In the first league, promotion to the football elite was secured by Lechia Gdańsk, who had been solid throughout the year, GKS Katowice, who were excellent in the final round, and Motor Lublin, who were the best team in the playoffs. However, the eleven for the season featured the most players from Arka Gdynia, who were long among the top promotion favorites but ultimately failed to achieve their goal. The best team in the first league, chosen by votes from players competing at this level, included four Arka players. The list was rounded out by three representatives of the champions, Lechia Gdańsk, and one player each from GKS Katowice, Wisła Kraków, Wisła Płock, and Górnik Łęczna.
Angel Rodado was named the First League Player of the Season, with nearly 40 percent of the votes. The Spaniard also made the team's eleven, leaving behind Olaf Kobacki (20%) of Arka and Borja Galan (11%) of Odra Opole.
The biggest discovery in the 1st League in the #FootballersChoose plebiscite organized by the Polish Football Association in the 2023/2024 season was Shuma Nagamatsu from Znicz Pruszków (20%), who beat Maksym Chłań from Lechia (16%), as well as Jakub Antczak from Odra Opole and Kacper Duda from Wisła Kraków (9% each). The latter, in turn, was named the best young footballer in the 1st League (20%), slightly ahead of Antoni Kozubal from GKS Katowice (18%) and Jakub Antczak from Odra (13%).
Szymon Grabowski (40% of the votes) was named the best coach in the First League, guiding Lechia Gdańsk to victory and direct promotion. The players also praised Wojciech Łobodziński of Arka (22%) and Adam Nocoń of Odra (13%). The First League players voted Jacek Małyszek of Lublin the best referee.
