Blind Football: Time to take the first step
This weekend, the first round of the 2025 PGF Blind Football League season will be played in Krakow. Our players will begin their battle to defend the championship title.
On April 5-6, the battle for the title of best blind football team in the country will begin at the MOS Kraków Zachód stadium. The White Star BF players will play just two matches this season, both on Saturday.
"We're eagerly awaiting the first whistle of the new season. Some of us had a small taste of the sporting excitement last weekend during the national team tournament, but now we're focused solely on the league and solid performances after a well-worked pre-season," says Kacper Domagała, midfielder wearing number 11.
The Polish national team put in a flawless performance in Austria, winning all three matches and scoring a total of eight goals. The goals for the Polish national team were scored by strikers from the Kraków section, Paweł Zinkow and Martin Jung, whose performances the entire team is counting on this weekend.
"The boys have an innate instinct that's enviable, and we need to nurture its development as a team. Their skills were crucial last year, and they could be just as important this season. However, we believe in everyone who takes the field with the White Star on their chest; we know our value as a team," notes Mateusz Krzyszkowski, who will be forced to miss the opening round of the new season due to injury.
Although the Krakow round will begin and end for our section on Saturday, fans who decide to come and support Wisła will have plenty of excitement. At 10:00 a.m., they will host BTS Rekord Bielsko-Biała Blind Football, who, before the start of their second season, have added Paweł Karbowski, a young and talented goalkeeper transferred from Niezłomni Blind Football Zabrze. At 4:00 p.m., a blockbuster clash will take place against Śląsk Wrocław Blind Football, whose coach, Michał Płachecki, has been in charge this year.
"The first matches are always a big unknown, especially after such a long break and certain changes that have taken place in both teams. We can only assume, based on last year's experience, that in both cases it will take a lot of work in attack to score a goal. However, we don't know what to expect. Hard work, consistency, patience, and respect for the opponent – if we remember these principles and don't deviate from our own playing philosophy, everything will go according to plan," concludes assistant coach Rafał Kurlit.
The first round of the PGF Blind Football League 2025 with the participation of Wisła BF will be played at the MOS Kraków Zachód facilities at Plac na Groblach 23. We strongly encourage fans of our club to visit the stadium this coming weekend and support our BF section, which will certainly do everything to have all three points under its belt after the final whistle on Saturday.
