Bąk: We deservedly lost to Korona

The reserve team suffered a heavy defeat in the fourth round of the Betclic III Liga on Wednesday, losing 1-4 to Korona Kielce reserves. Wisła coach Bartosz Bąk commented on the match.

The Kraków team faced intense pressure from their opponents from the outset, allowing Kielce to take a two-goal lead into halftime. The second half also proved challenging for the White Star, and despite scoring a goal on target, they were unable to turn the tide.

"We started the match very sluggishly, which meant we lost a lot of the ball in the attacking phase. This, in turn, fueled our opponents' quick attacks, which they were effective at. When we finally gave the ball to Korona, we lost a lot of one-on-one duels, and our opponents created scoring opportunities too easily, which gave them a deserved 2-0 lead after the first half. After the break, we came out on the pitch more motivated and focused. We created chances to score, but we failed to capitalize. Wanting to chase the result, we opened up and conceded a third goal, which clearly clipped our wings. We managed to respond with a shot on target, but it didn't change the course of the match, and we deservedly lost to Korona. What matters to me is how we react to what happened now, because we haven't lost in 20 official matches. The team's reaction to this defeat and how we approach the next match will be crucial for me"

The hosts displayed excellent form in this match, while the Kraków team made some mistakes. What factors, in the coach's opinion, led to the defeat?

It's hard to quickly pinpoint one or two areas that fell short today. From the touchline, it seemed to me that during the first half, as I mentioned, it was the lost one-on-ones in defense, the lost possession in the opponent's half, the lack of protection between the lines, and many other factors. This fueled our opponents, and they meticulously exploited it.
