Bąk: It hurts us when we concede a goal
The White Star's second team has already drawn for the third time this season. This time, Wisła drew 1-1 with Sandecja Nowy Sącz, allowing them to snatch the win in the final action of the match. A set piece, which was a throw-in, we get a goal to make it 1-1 and once again it hurts us to concede a goal," coach Bartosz Bąk emphasized after the match.
After two draws to open the season, Wisła were looking to collect their first three points in the third division on Saturday afternoon. The task wasn't easy, as Sandecja Nowy Sącz entered Saturday's match on the back of two victories and is considered one of the favorites to advance to the second division.
However, coach Bartosz Bąk's side were able to successfully counter them for a long time. After Dawid Olejarka's goal, they led almost until the very end. Until the fateful 95th minute arrived, when Kamil Słaby equalized after a mix-up in the penalty area.
"I think we executed our goals very well based on how the game played out in the first half. We knew Sandecja would get close to us, we'd be playing one-on-one. When we opened the game, we wanted to push their swinging players away from our full-backs a little with a long pass. We succeeded, but unfortunately, we didn't win the second ball and didn't have many advantages in the game. Kudos to the boys for building a high-up position, when we were able to establish our structure, but I think Sandecja mostly created chances in the first half when we lost the ball between the lines," explained the White Star's second-team manager after the match.
"We scored one goal, then had a penalty that we could have converted to make it 2-0 and went into halftime with our heads in the air. The start of the second half also belonged to us. I'm talking about that until Wiktor Szywacz received his second yellow card. A set piece, a throw-in, made it 1-1, and once again, it hurts us to concede a goal. After the red card, the players knew they had to leave their hearts on the pitch when it came to defending, and they did so effectively until the very last moment of the match," said coach Bartosz Bąk.
Wisła has collected three points in three matches. And now a small marathon awaits them. Next Wednesday they will play away against Korona Kielce reserves (kick-off at 5:00 p.m.), and next Saturday at Prądniczanka they will host Chełmianka Chełm (kick-off at 12:00 p.m.).
